Finishing the Benchmark
Collection requires expertise equal to that of the cabinetmaker. As in
the eighteenth century, the hardwood is scraped by hand leaving a visual and tactile
sensation unachievable without the labor of a human hand.
Earth tones diluted with water colour the wood with depth and clarity
not attainable with modern chemicals. Shellac is used to impart it's special feel
and subtle tint. The final topcoat is water and alcohol resistant. Lastly,
hand rubbing and waxing give the Benchmark Collection the look
and feel of fine antiques. |
